CHECK TO SEE IF YOU'RE STORING YOUR FRUITS & VEGGIES WRONGLY…...

So many times we buy vegetables and afterwards find out that they have gone bad just before we are ready to use them.
We came across these easy and helpful ways to store our veggies and fruits and decided to share with our lovely capitallivers. Its interesting to know that when we store our fruits and veggies the right way,not only will we be keeping them for longer, the nutrients will also better preserved.

LEAFY VEGGIES
For leafy vegetables, put in bowl and put a sheet or two of paper towel before tightly wrapping with cling film. This helps to prevent moisture settling on the leaves, keeping them fresh and crisp.

SPICES & HERBS.
Do you always have to throw away your leftover herbs and spices after taking what you need? then those days will soon be gone.
put any leftover fresh spices and herbs in ice cube trays, add water and pop back into the freezer.Pop them back up any time you need them and you will see that their freshness is retained and saves you having to buy another.

KEEP THE BULBS OUT OF LIGHT.
Have you noticed that when onions and garlic are stored on the kitchen worktop, that they go off or grow mouldy faster? yes they do,but when kept out of sunlight, you notice that they last longer and also retain their freshness. You will also notice they wouldn't sprout meaning they can keep for longer.

SPRING ONION
This one here is so exciting. There is something exciting about the spring onion,am i alone on this? Lol..anyways i think it must be the beautiful look it gives to stir fry or could it be the different shades of green?
Chop up your spring onions and store in an empty water bottle and pop into the freezer.Bring out only when needed and just shake out what you need and return back to the freezer. Fantastic.

WRAP YOUR CARROTS IN FOIL.
Do you know what happens when you store freshly peeled carrots in foil?  when you peel fresh carrots and store them in foil, you squeeze out oxygen, and when that happens, they can last for as long as 2weeks. yes! take that to the bank.

DO NOT WASH FRUITS ESP.BERRIES UNTIL YOU ARE .READY TO EAT THEM
Yes, avoid washing fruits until they are ready to be consumed. This is because moisture causes them grow mould.
