This is called the worlds oldest continuos lava lake,and is situated in Ethiopia.Found in the badlands desert area of the Afar depression in the North -eastern Ethiopia.
Czech photographer Karel Tupy,recently took a trip to Ethiopia,to capture the daunting scene of the 150ft wide Basalt Volcano.



      "This view is simply staggering" said Karel "lava inside the Volcano is constantly moving,bubbling      
        and bursting"

Lava is said to constantly spray from the centre of the lake,a rare phenomenon said to be one of just six in the world.
         " The heat was so immense,when i got to the edge of the crater,it was so unbearable and after just  
            just a few seconds my facial skin became so hot i had to get away.There was even a point i felt
            my camera was going to melt" said Karel Tupy.


The locals call this Lava "The gateway to hell",because the incandescent bubbling Lava lake hisses like some badly burned porridge cauldron overturning and occasionally belching molten lava.
